Interview: Machman Bandy
“My name is Machman Bandy, I’m an up and coming artist who plans to make an imprint in the game.
My versatility has put me in many different types of songs, from RNB, Rap, Pop and I even have a rock track I’ll be releasing in the near future. I could even spit boom Bap for the hardcore rap fans. All I need is a minute to show you!”
Where are you from and what is the music scene like?
Germantown, Philadelphia born and raised. I recently moved to Utah and the music scene is pretty vague here tbh.
Artists I connect with locally don’t relate to the vibe Im looking for. In Philly, the music vibe is there, just a lot of people doing the same thing as you so it’s kinda hard to shine as big. I’m for sure going to take advantage of Utah not really having rapper that do what I do.
What is your greatest source of inspiration?
I’m inspired by J.cole, Andre 3000 and Juice Wrld. They provide a mixture of sounds that I’d like create in my own way.
How have your life experiences influenced your music?
As you know, most rappers come from nothing and my story happens to start the same way. Grew up from nothing, home troubles, getting into things that could have led me into the direction of becoming a statistic. Many side hustles to ensure my family could be straight.
I had so much trauma, no real way to deal with it, I only recently as last year started rapping at 22 years old which is pretty late but it was sort of a coping mechanism. Then I kept writing and couldn’t stop, I have many tracks that I’ve written just to write but never have recorded. Thats all gonna change this year for me.
