Recording Artist: Theodore Kidd
Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I will admit it – I am not your typical Singer-Songwriter. I may sing and play an acoustic guitar, but by using my loop pedal to combine Folk chord progressions with Beatboxing loops, I create music that has a style that is genuinely me. It is a unique combination anywhere, but in Melbourne, Australia, it is comfortable and familiar while still being distinct, original, and different.
Understandably, I have a broad range of musical influences that include Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan, Beck, Jack Johnson, Drake, and Post Malone. Take a listen to tracks like Dear, Introvert, and Awkward Time, and you will hear elements of Blues, Folk, Hip-Hop, and Electronica, as well as character-filled vocal deliveries ranging from that of a mellow Singer-Songwriter to an energetic and outspoken Rapper.

What I really want…
My overall goal for my music is to unite opposing cultural crowds by blending different styles of music and art together to create a more unbiased and open society.
What is your greatest source of inspiration?
Robert Johnson, Bob Dylan, Beck, Jack Johnson, Drake, Post Malone
How have your life experiences influenced your music?
I grew up between my Mum and Nan, never living in one place for more than a year. Having to move so frequently made me nomadic and eager for touring. My father was abusive to my Mum and wasn't really in the picture, so growing up fatherless and being from a broken home made me see the world from a different point of view. Since the age of around seven, I've known anxiety and depression well, causing me to become, at times, suicidal. With suicidal thoughts weighing heavily on my mind, I do my best to address mental health and comfort listeners as best I can, and show them that they are not alone.
I have also witnessed a lot of racism towards others, and I know that segregation still exists in music. By blending different genres such as Blues and Hip-Hop, I would like to help bring different crowds together to create peace and harmony.
