Recording Artist: SHY!
Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Hello,
My name is Cameron, I've been producing for about nine years now, and around 2018 I started rapping/singing under the alias "SHY!". I thought I'd tell you about myself and my journey so far, hoping maybe you guys could check me out and possibly help or give me advice. My whole life, I've always loved music, so when I was 9-10 years old, I got the demo version of FL Studio starting messing with samples and loops. I kept doing that for about three years until I purchased the full version. By then, I was getting very comfortable with the workflow, so I started installing stuff like VST's, Kits and making beats/electronic music. Eventually, someone introduced me to Ableton Live in 2014-2015. It took months and months to learn the software, messing around with different effects and hotkeys to get relatively close to comfortable. Around a year later, I was just as pleased with the workflow like I was with FL Studio. So in 2016, I was making beats and trying to sell them online through Youtube and other platforms. Sadly, it never worked out. I kept producing beats and electronic music in my free time for fun until 2017 when I bought a Blue Yeti microphone. I didn't know much about vocal mixing or anything, so it was complete garbage off the jump. I was rapping and singing over my beats, just freestyling, occasionally writing lyrics and watching tutorials on mixing vocals, seeing progress almost every day. I went down bad on the drugs and gave up on music for nearly a year until late 2017. I spent my all on a $200 microphone and got back into the music, singing about my struggle and addiction. I started getting a little bit of a following, bringing nothing but good feedback from the community. Telling me, they relate to my music and keep striving to stick it in my head if I keep trying, I will succeed one day. It motivated me. I never really had that type of attention growing up. I listened to them, pushing out more music every month, gaining more fans and more compliments. People told me things I needed to change and improve on, and that's exactly what I did. Getting told, "you're finding your sound, you're gonna make it big one day, and I'm so proud of you." All this time and effort I put into music has been nothing but success in my eyes. It's helped me through the times I could've lost my life. It's been a cope for me. It's been some what like a therapist for me. All I'm asking is one chance and an opportunity. I would not let you down.
