Who are you?
My background is Jazz guitar – my degree is in Jazz & Contemporary Music. But I'm a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bass, piano, drums, VOX). Sometimes I tell people I play all the instruments you play with your fingers not with your lungs. My lyricism is driven by real life experiences. I love making magic out of everyday moments, like poets. My favorite genres are Hip-Hop, Jazz, Alternative Rock, Punk, and Electronic. I try to blend these genres as much as possible. Comparisons range as far as Hall & Oates to Tyler, The Creator.
Where are you from?
I'm from Charlotte, NC but I'm currently based in New Orleans. The scene is driven by tourism so there are always gigs but quite often you have to cater to out-of-towners, which means playing the hits. In fact, I run sound at Café Negril in the French Quarter and bands literally play the same songs from set to set; a lot of Stevie Wonder, Lauryn Hill, Beyoncé, The Isley Brothers, Amy Winehouse, etc.
