Olga S Popova is a multi-specialist in different genres: from pop, rock and classical music to a film music. Having experience in the format of a full-length film, animated cartoon, several works in documentaries and theatrical shows, as well as working on a steampunk rock album and classical music as an academic pianist and composer Olga shows in her music a variety of genres and styles containing rich orchestration, catchy melodies, thoughtful lyrics and a rock drive. Olga S Popova describes her musical style as a "Steampunk". In addition to the classic band instruments (such as a guitar, bass, keys, synth, drums) Olga's music includes a rich symphonic instrumentation, such as classical strings, woodwinds, french horns, harp, celesta and harpsichord. The range of instruments playing on stage during the live shows is really variable. Olga is always transforming her arrangements from the symphony orchestra & the band into smaller ensembles, which is why the sound of her music always acquires a new musical colours.
Where are you from and what’s the music scene like there?
«I was shocked and completely lost after the war had started. Nobody expected it. Nobody wanted it, but one man – the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin. This is a terrible tragedy, I was watching the news and the social networks everyday – I saw the shootings, I saw the death of innocent people, innocent children – it made a lasting impression on me and I knew from that moment that I needed to speak out as an artist, as a human . Music is the world language – music is my way of saying Stop the War!”
