Who are you?
I ask myself this a lot… Because sometimes, I don’t wanna be here and I don’t wanna be who I am but since we here & so am I; I’m Mikem Nahmir. Til I’m no longer here
Where are you from and what is the music scene like?
I’m from Long Beach, CA. A city whose music scene has been one of the main staples in hip hop since the 90s. Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, Daz, Kurupt, Warren G, all the REAL west coast legends are from Long Beach. We ain’t never missed. Ever. Hopefully I do this shit long enough for the torch to be passed by one of the many legends still floating around the Beach.
What is your greatest source of inspiration?
I think I catch most of my inspiration from my friends, family and real life situations. I don’t really have any rap inspirations. I’ve never been inspired by anything a rapper was doing. I’m most inspired by skateboarding, film and fashion. Skaters like my friends Donny and the big homie, Boo Johnson. Films like AKIRA, Friday, 9 Lives of Fritz the Cat, all inspirational to me. Fashion leaders like my friends Cliche and Rayna. That’s some REAL inspiration right there…
How have your life experiences influenced your music?
My music wouldn’t be as good as it is if my life wasn’t as shitty as it was. If I didn’t have a notebook’s worth of shitty shit to write about, there wouldn’t be no Mikem Nahmir. If I had a cool little life that was easy to live, I wouldn’t have to rap but luckily, my life was shitty enough to rap about on a beat…
How can fans learn more about you?
By listening to the music I put out. It’s the only time I actually open up and say things about myself that I won’t say anywhere else but a song
