FEATURED POST FROM THE BEST BLOGGERS IN MUSIC: Luke Combs Topping Charts with New Song

Luke Combs Tops Hot Country Songs and Climbs Hot 100
Luke Combs makes history for Country music. He is the first solo male Country artist to start at number 2 on the Hot 100. His latest release “Forever After All” finds itself on top of the Hot Country Songs chart for the week. These numbers are generated from streaming, sales, and airplay. “Forever After All” was released via River House/Columbia Nashville and is the second song to hit the top this year in its debut. Morgan Wallen did so with his song “7 Summers” back in August. Furthermore, against all genres, Luke Combs finds himself at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This is the highest debut for a solo male Country artist that has hit the top of Hot Country Songs at the same time. Especially relevant, the last artist to do so was Garth Brooks in September 1999 under the alias Chris Gaines. Garth reached number 5 with the song “Lost in You”.
After previewing the song on TikTok in late August, Luke reveals he has been holding this song back for about two years. With claims that the song doesn’t happen without his wife, this song tells the story of the next chapter of their relationship. It was the first song the Country superstar wrote in their new home together. Additional news of note, this song earns Combs his third leader on the Hot Country Songs chart and his first number 1 debut. “Beautiful Crazy” did really well on the chart as it held onto the top position for 11 weeks starting back in March 2019.

With the release of “Forever After All”, you can see the new tracks included on the deluxe version of Luke’s second album. “What You See Is What You Get” was reissued a few weeks back in late October in a 23-track form. The song scored 29.1 million U.S. streams in its first week. Additionally, there were 52,000 downloads sold. Radio audience is looking to be about 762,000 audience impressions. Moving forward it will be interested to see how Luke Combs album re-issue will chart. With new songs generating more interest and excitement from fans, it is quite possible the album climbs back up the charts. Time will tell.
