Interview: Wiser Observer

Artist Name: Wiser Observer
Latest Release: Vacate (feat. Ced Wynez & Trill XO)

“Bio: Wiser Observer’s music borders on the line of romanticising personal sadness with a preference on minimal beats. With major influences from Kendrick Lamar, Chance The Rapper, ScHoolboy Q, Black Vulcanite and Jean Jacques. A lot of concepts of his songs stem from personal experiences and relationships in his life. He self-produces many of his songs and his style falls between brag rap and conscious rap. Self-critique, heartbreak, and addiction are littered all over most of his work. In a world bombarded with “wannabe tough guys” and formulaic bangers, Wiser’s music appears to come from a genuine place making it engaging.

Tell us all about this new track of yours!
Song Bio: “Vacate” is a collaboration between Wiser Observer, Ced Wynez & Trill XO. The content is warning of staying vigilant in problematic and potentially life-threatening environments. The eery horns and synths paint a cold environment with drill-Esque percussion.

This is the second collaboration between Trill XO and the third for Ced and Wiser.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?
Nasty C

Where are you from and what is the music scene like?
I'm from Windhoek, Namibia. The music is starting to pick up for rap and hip-hop. But Kwaito is huge here.

How have your life experiences influenced your music?
As with a lot of people. Childhood was traumatic and difficult. I wouldn't go as far as to say music saved my life or anything, but I stumbled upon it very young and was hooked on creating my own very early on.
