Artist Name: Purple Glaze
Latest Release: Dragonfly Pot Stew

“I'm a musician that just loves all types of music from hip-hop to indie to krautrock to even some metal. I really love deep-diving into weird experimental genres I've never heard before and get a taste of things outside of my normal comfort zones, which is where I try to draw inspiration from. Not only that, but I'm an avid jazz fan and am always striving to replicate some of the great jazz guitarists from the cool-jazz era in particular. I'm always astonished with how deep music theory can go and am always trying to incorporate whatever interesting ideas I learn from research into my music.”

Tell us all about this new track of yours!
My style definitely takes inspiration from newer styles like bedroom pop & lofi-indie which I get from listening to people like Mac DeMarco or the band, Crumb, but for melodies and chord progressions I draw a lot from old school cool-jazz from mostly the late 50s/60s. This new track is no different and it's the first time I've messed with modal theory whilst incorporating vibrant sounding chords with a lot of colour to them. Despite the more complex jazzy structure I've kept the chilled out vibes of lofi-indie in there with a very hip-hoppy style beat and slow guitar strums that fill the entire track with warmth and good vibrations.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?
Damon Albarn

Where are you from and what is the music scene like?
I'm from Exeter, which is in the south-west of England! It has a really good underground rock scene featuring a lot of more punky and grungy bands which I absolutely love to see live, as well as some really talented musicians that would always leave me with the biggest bass face possible when live music was still allowed.

How have your life experiences influenced your music?
I've often struggled with connecting to people and have always felt music is just such an amazing way to hear people's emotions as well as letting your own out there for others to listen to and understand.
