Interview: Jack McKeever

Artist Name: Jack McKeever

Tell us something about you that fans should know:

I am looking for something ephemeral. It's close. I can almost grab it. I have been writing songs since the mid 90's. I am still searching for those things that will be new songs. Always. I have been blessed with an incredible rhythm section in Dom Richards and Bill Dobrow. For twenty years Jimi Zhivago created amazing guitar parts around my music. RIP. Cameron Greider played guitar and keyboards and co produced some recent work.

Where are you from and what’s the music scene like there?

I am from DC and NYC and I now live in London.

How have your life experiences influenced your music?

They are inextricably linked.
My work is my own process.
Songs identify or attempt to heal things. Songs ask questions.
I have lived in several places over the past fifteen years. The mother of my daughter has moved
and I love my daughter. I have been nomadic, angry about being nomadic, being healed from this through love and new experience, but all the while restless and curious for sound that can compel or make anything somehow make sense.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

this week: Rickie Lee Jones

Song Title: Here We Go Lifting
