Artist Name: Alan Ens

“Im Alan. I make electronic music on analog synths but I also play jazz and classical guitar. I love video game music and film soundtracks and I make my living teaching music. I am interested in building new setups and exploring what happens when my musical spirit bumps into to robots.”

Where are you from and what is the music scene like?
Im from Philly. Here Ive played punk, rock, jazz, free jazz, original music, classical guitar quartets, classical guitar orchestra arrangements and folk music. I would say that whatever you need is in the city. You can see the orchestra, hear jazz at Chris' Cafe, or catch something a little more outside from Bowerbird or the experimental scene.

What is your greatest source of inspiration?
My girlfriend and my musician friends and cool instagram accounts.

How have your life experiences influenced your music?
I grew up poor – in a way I didn't realize until I met adults who didn't seem to have the same issues I did. I also love building terrariums and growing plants which is something like making music. I teach guitar – and music to people age 2 and up – so I spend lots of my day cheerleading. I have a permanent injury in my hand that prevents me from playing guitar like I would like.
