Interview: 3G

Artist Name: 3G

Tell us something about you that fans should know:

In a scene where lyricism is often overlooked and pushed to the side, as an artist I focus on combining pop/melodic/commercial elements with hard hitting punchlines, intricate rhyme schemes, and real, relatable messages. Another big factor that plays into my sound is my age; being 15 and still covering the mature topics the way I do is almost unheard of, so there's no doubt that I'm a very unique artist and at the very least, worth a few listens.

Where are you from and what’s the music scene like there?

I'm from Green Bay, Wisconsin, where the music scene is mostly local bands and high school choirs. However, I'm determined to change that by being the first big thing out of Green Bay, and the first big rapper out of Wisconsin. My hope is that my come-up will inspire the next generation to be more creative and step outside their comfort zone, unlike the older generations.

How have your life experiences influenced your music?

Growing up bi-racial (Mexican and Caucasian) has created a lot of identity issues for me; never feeling like I fit in anywhere. Often passing as latino also brings it's share of prejudice from people I don't know as well as some of my peers. On top of all that, my parents split when I was very young, so even as a small child I was missing my father so much, in my mind it was almost as if he'd died. These things, plus daily struggles with my mental and emotional wellbeing definitely shape my sound and subject matter. For example, my upcoming album has an underlying tone of identity and struggle throughout that makes it very relatable on a deeper level. I'm confident that if I could just get a big enough platform, I could really "take off" in a sense and make something out of my music, while reaching the souls of my listeners as well.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

J.I the Prince of N.Y or Bryson Tiller

Song Title: The 3Mixes
