Fleetwood Mac is Back on Top Thanks to TikTok Video
It has been more than four decades since the song was released, however, “Dreams” finds its way back up the charts. Thanks to a viral TikTok video featuring the Fleetwood Mac song, the former number 1 single has re-entered the charts at number 21. This is the first time the song has been on the Hot 100 since its original run in 1977. Furthermore, the track has generated its best week ever regarding U.S. streams and downloads. With 13.4 million streams, up 54% from the previous week. Additionally, the song is up 197% in downloads, with just over 22,000. This data is tracked and reported by Nielsen Music.  Especially relevant, the song also is charting well on the Streaming Songs and Digital Song Sales charts.
The reason for this reintroduction into the mainstream is that a TikTok video to the song has gone viral. Idaho native, Nathan Adopaca shot a video riding his long board while drinking a bottle of juice to the song. “Dreams” plays in the video as the backing track as Nathan mouths the words. The video has gotten so popular that Ocean Spray actually gifted the man a truck. Additionally, Fleetwood Mac has seen the video and Mick Fleetwood recreated the TikTok.

Most noteworthy, the song was written by Stevie Nicks and debuted on the Hot 100 in April 1977. The song spent 1 week on top. The last appearance from the song on this chart was in August 1977. Especially relevant, with the song’s appearance this week, Fleetwood Mac have earned their highest placement since February 1988. However, it should be noted that they did make an appearance in March 2003 with “Peacekeeper” when it hit number 80.
Moving forward, it should be interesting to see what other songs can climb up the charts from a viral video. What song will be the next blast from the past? Time will tell.
