Recording Artist: Mitchi Mula
Can you tell us a little about yourself?
See, if you keep on listening to music more and more than you come to a feeling that it is not only about rhyming, or being poetic on a beat. It is more like letting out every emotion, the frustration, the anger, the sadness even the achievements.
Everything one let out should be presented passionately. I found that making sense matters the really the most in my eyes but that’s my opinion. My main focus is to make an impact on the culture of hip hop from the technique. Me being a great story teller, and a song writer opens up doors that I know many people struggle with. My rhyming ability and my soulful touch always will never disappoint the true ones. I want people to scratch their head, read and reread the lyrics and dig up rap genius with layers of references and wordplay that I use. Cadence, delivery, song structure, vocabulary, relatability, replay-ability, and style are all things that I try to get down by the end of my finished products. When listening to multiple songs from an artist I like to see how much each beat varies from one song to the next. Same with vocabulary as you might find someone spit wicked on a track but see that they rehash the same thing on all their other tracks. Another thing when listen to an artists disc is what kind of subject matter they tend to tackle. I move do not just try to stay on one topic and when I do I will not branch off into anything that I would not promote on my day to day basis.
If you could reach any goal in 2021, what would it be?
2020 showed me the importance of proof of concept. If you believe that you and your music deserve the most opportunities, prove it. The only way you’ll be able to convince others to reward you with the looks you want is to explain, with evidence, that you’re worthy of the opportunity. I went from educating myself on music as whole, which led me to start believing in myself even more. Since my team is structured and fully developed, we are coming into 2021 going crazy. Self-motivation, perseverance, and discipline are three of the most important traits i needed to interstand before anyone else will start to invest their time, energy and resources into my vision. My main goal for 2021 is to start bringing in revenue from not only my music streaming wise, but from live shows and so forth. I know with that I will have to be a hassle due to COVID-19 but I haven’t been letting it deter me from doing what I love to do.
What is your greatest source of inspiration?
The need to be heard.
How have your life experiences influenced your music?
Inspiration is one of the most important tools in any creators passion. It pushes us to try new things and helps us stay excited about our work. Once I found the importance in songwriting, and found that if your recordings don’t sound professional you’ll have trouble getting heard, i became even more fascinated in the art as a whole. From there I started to branch off into reality in my younger age. Me going thru life with my team / family showed me that I am the key to what music has been missing. Creativity and passion flows in my veins and It allows me to have a open taste for music. I grew up listening to artist like Michael Jackson, 50, Fabolous, Mary J, Jeezy, and the list goes on. Even tho I can’t say that me myself went thru any struggle as in living wise because of my dukes and step pop doing what they have to do. I was always a quick learner and a lady pleaser since a kid and the older I got it started to build a smarter and stronger mindset for the kind of music I would want me make. Me trying to find myself young brought me to some curves in my life like me recently getting locked up for some time, me losing two of my best friends in the past 2 years, and me getting expelled form school more times that I can count. Things along that nature aren’t anything I try to glamorous per-say but it definitely is something that will be known. I am a strong believer in things happen for a reason but even though I do second guess myself way too many times, I don’t know what Gods plan is for me. Not just when I am writing but when I am engineering it I really just get a chance to put my all in it. Me getting used to spending time alone, traveling long distances, collaborating, and learning more theories on the game just keep me more tuned in to what’s becoming of the culture.
