Recording Artist: Big Jerm
Can you tell us a little about yourself?
My names Jeremie I’m located in the Dallas area! I’m 22 years old, I’ve been rapping since I was about 16. I am 1/3 of 826 $quad and we are all about diversity and equality. I am of African decent (both of my parents are native Burundians) and I have been involved with music since birth. I have family that are long runners for the countries traditional music who also perform in traditional clothing in Africa and America during our independence days.
If you could reach any goal in 2021, what would it be?
Getting our music out there and opportunities arising. We have to make it.
What is your greatest source of inspiration?
My love for music, my family but also knowing that there isn’t another trio like 826 $quad. The diversity we bring is tremendous and we just want to unify everyone.
How have your life experiences influenced your music?
My dad left me and my lil brother at 12 and 9 by waking me up at 4 in the morning with his bags packed ready to go. No warning other wise. After that me and my mom and brother struggled so hard because my father tried to take our home, lie to us and our family and made it to where we were literally on our own. After I was able to work I was doing everything I could to support my mom. In the area I live in police were always trying to harass me and I was always faced with racist teachers and classmates who exploited my kindness and set me up for failure or embarrassment. And because of the situation at home and outside it was hard for me to know what real love was. So I found love in vices. My mom being too busy on learning English and working for us to have food and shelter it was really hard.
