Interview: Dying Habit
“Dying Habit are Nathan Jones on vocals/bass, Alan Hart guitar and Mark Jones on drums.
Nathan and Mark are brothers and have known Alan most of their lives. Playing alternative rock music as a band is what we have always enjoyed doing and still do. Experimenting and finding ourselves in music is important to us and we are always discovering new and exciting aspects about our song writing. We have been aiming to really hone in on our talent to hopefully create a hit song among the alternative rock community.
In recent years we decided to officially form Dying Habit. We hope to be able to show off our talent with our new album which is ready now.
We know exactly who we are and how we want to come across. We need more exposure for our current album and our story. We believe a large community of listeners are waiting to find Dying Habit.”
Where are you from and what is the music scene like?
We are from Anglesey in North Wales in the UK.
It's a picturesque location and we love it here.
The music scene is great in the right venues.
And our genre shines to many of the locals.
Last year we decided to expand our horizon and started collaborating with live event promotion companies in Manchester and Liverpool (being the closest large cities to us). After playing gig supporting a larger band we sold out our next show. We were asked to headline at Manchester Academy 3. We also managed to organise a coach to bring many of our local fans to the show. Two years ago we entered the Indie Week competition that was being held in Manchester when advised the pr agent. We didn't win, but were told by the judging panel how close we were to winning. The prize was a chance to tour venues in Toronto, Canada.
What is your greatest source of inspiration?
Dead Letter Circus, Karnivool, Smashing Pumkins
How have your life experiences influenced your music?
We imagine you get this a lot. Recent times has been a nightmare for most people. 2020 was difficult for us all. Including musicians. Most bands we know did not have means to practice together during all the lockdowns.
We were fortunate however and took full advantage to write an album to release.
The current news was scary and we used writing, playing and recording as a great way to escape. We named the album 'until the air runs out'. The tracks tell the stories we were living at the time of writing them. And what we were going through personally.
