Big-time Press Release

Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion are Back at 1 with WAP
It looks like Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion jump back to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart with “WAP”. The song takes out “Dynamite” from the K-Pop super group, BTS after spending two weeks at the peak. Most noteworthy, the Hot 100 chart considers all data for U.S. sales, streaming, and radio airplay. These numbers are summed up to see what the most popular song of the week is. This week it is the ladies anthem, ‘WAP’. Other artists trending their way to the top right now to no surprise are Drake and The Weeknd. Both Canadian artists have recently released videos for popular songs.
Diving into the numbers we can see the refueled number 1 scored 48.2 million U.S. streams this week. Although that number is down 18%, it was enough to power the track to the top. Additionally, the song benefited from 16,000 downloads sold, which is down 20%. Most noteworthy, the push could be due to an 11% uptick on radio airplay audience impressions. All numbers and data are tracked by Nielsen Music.

Especially relevant, Cardi B has no tied her longest record as a lead artist on a chart as she hits a third week. Previously, the female MC was buzzing back in October 2017 with Bodak Yellow. Additionally, “I Like It” featuring Bad Bunny and J Balvin stood on top in July of 2018. Lastly, Maroon 5’s “Girls Like You” peaked for seven weeks in late 2018. However, that was as a featured artist.
Keep an eye on the charts to see how Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion continue to chart with “WAP”. It seems this song will be buzzing through the rest of the calendar year as it is showing dominance on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs chart.
