What inspired your new song?
well this release was inspired by just some of the things I’ve dealt with in my life, like anyone else. Haters, just trying to stay afloat and make my paper, just being an overall solid individual and staying true to myself. I believe that most people who are like that and are as solid as they say deserve some type of recognition nowadays, because they are hard to come by. Alot of people seem to come with motives. So this song is dedicated to those people and why I chose to name it awards. Its also a dedication to a relative of mines who wrote a classic record by Lou Rawls years ago, but got the song stolen. So awards is sort of like a redemption.
Describe your writing process?
Honestly, with this track I didn’t write. I actually came off the top of my head with most of it. Not like freestyle. But more like a bar for bar kind of thing. I caught the first line, and really just built the song from there, just adding on until the song was actually finished. It took me maybe about a half hour to actually record it. This is an all new style for me to actually just feed off of my own energy without actually writing a song on paper, or typing it into notes in my phone. It’s a much quicker process and it fuels my creativity a little bit more.
Do you have a video?
Right now i dont have any. I’m looking for a videographer now as we speak. I know the importance of having visuals. We can have good music as much as we want. But we also must bring people into our world with visuals, so I’m working on that.
How do you stand out as an artist?
Honestly, because music is so cluttered now, i’m just looking for ways to partner with influencers to help build my fanbase and take it from there. Along the way I’m coming up with ideas for merch and how to get fans to support the brand.
Who are you listening to right now?
Ive been listening to everyone on and off. I try not to listen too much because then as and artist, You start to sound like the artists you listen to, which doesn’t really give you the best chance to stand out finding your own sound and style. So, everyone, just on and off. I really like to listen to my own music to continue to take notes and figure out ways to get better within my own right.
Who are some of your influences?
My biggest influences are my parents. I was disciplined as a kid and taught about love and respect. So if it’s anybody it would be them two.
What gets you up in the morning?
being creative. Just art in general. If you look around when you wake up out of bed, or you step out of your front door, It’s art! A picture. everything we look at and do is art or a form of. So I’m just fueled by being alive and just being able to have a chance to be successful everyday. To be able to create the reality that i desire. Every morning I wake up giving thanks for what I have and knowing that I’m able and willing to acquire more. I’ve had struggles and still do, but that’s what makes the fight even greater. Especially when you realize the potential you have. It just make the fight even better. So I thrive on just getting ahead in life and staying there.
What’s next for you?
Next for me is to get this ep finished and out on the road to promote it. The music is good and im confident that it will be well received by the public as long is I can get them to listen
