Tell us something about you that fans should know:
My artist name, which I've been releasing music under for about two years, is "shmaxwell". That name comes from a nickname that one of my best friends used to call me all the time. I'd say as an artists I'm always trying something new. My music can get very experimental at times, and the topics I normally focus on include, addiction, mental health issues, dealing with the past, and existential philosophy. The vibe of my music is usually mellow, but the lyrics often make you think. It's good music to sit down and smoke a blunt with your friend to.
Where are you from and what’s the music scene like there?
I'm from Southern California, based out of Los Angeles and The Beach Cities. The music scene out here is very vibe based. There is a lot of melodic artists coming up out here right now and there's this sort of tribalism among SoCal local artists. It's a very supportive community from what I've observed and all the underground artists I've met out here I now consider family. I love Cali and I love the Cali scene.
