Recording Artist: Brian Mayes “At an early age, Brian Mayes’s parents ( Charlie and Delores Mayes) always said that there was something a bit different about their youngest son. He has always wanted to change the world and if he did, he would help as many people as he could.

Brian graduated high school in 1983 where he was an outstanding football player and was easily bound for college as a highly recruited defensive back. Even then, he chose the Air Force so that he could send money home to help the family.

After 4 years in the United States Air Force, Brian returned home to rejoin the group that his mother started ( The Mayes Brothers). By then, the brothers had taken on a more contemporary style of gospel than he was used to and he wanted to stay with more of a traditional style.
A few years later he started Heavenbound and recorded his first song ( It’s just the Holyghost). After teaming up with Reggie Funderburke and manager Kevin Cloud, the group was named Brian Mayes and Heavenbound.

After years of traveling, Brian realized that the traditional market of Quartet music was fading a bit and the vision began to take form.

Dinard Radio: Our vision is to build a new audience of traditional gospel lovers, it has to be done on a digital market. A market that can reach the young people and somewhat explain how grandma and grandpa felt when they heard Nearer my God to Thee or maybe the Original Jesus you’ve been Good to me by the Gospel Keynotes. How else can I explain it except I take you on a real trip to back then?

With this in mind, Brian released his new project entitled ” 18 Years” . 18 years is the exact amount of years it’s been since Brian has been on stage. The time is now because I understand that my whole life is based on the Cross of Christ. I was singing back then, but I didn’t truly know and love him. He is first in my life and I wouldn’t even think of taking this journey without the Holy Spirit leading and guiding this project.(he said in a recent interview)”
